Short Term Tourist Rental - AirBNB
Per Warren County as of 3/4/24 - The county requires a basic inspection to ensure that the system is functioning properly.
During our visit, we will inspect the tank and any easily accessible components. Digging up the distribution box is NOT required, but you may want to consider this during inspection if it has been a few years since you last looked at it.
Conventional Systems:
We will provide you a passing note to provide to the county.
**If any repairs are found to be needed, the note will be provided once repairs are completed**
Alternative Systems:
Your Annual Inspection Report will be submitted to VDH (Virginia Department of Health) and will be attached to your invoice once the work is complete.
Your Annual Report is sufficient to prove that the system functions as designed. You will need to provide this to the official requesting the inspection, as it will not automatically go to them via the VDH portal.
**If any repairs are found to be needed, the Annual Report will be provided once repairs are completed**
Short Term Rental - AirBNB
Per Shenandoah County as of 3/4/24 - When you initially apply there will be a determination on whether or not you need a physical septic inspection. A representative from VDH (Virginia Department of Health) will contact you if a physical septic inspection is required.
If VDH determines that you need an inspection, you will need to have a SAP (Safe Adequate and Proper) evaluation completed and you will be referred to an AOSE (Authorized Onsite Soil Evaluator) to complete the SAP and file the findings with VDH directly on your behalf.
Once you are approved, as long as nothing changes with your septic system, you are not required to have an inspection for your annual renewal.
If you are running a short term rental or AirBNB, it is always a good idea to consider a basic inspection for conventional yearly.
As a reminder, if you have an alternative septic system, you are required to have your system inspected annually.
